Ὄξους δριμέως ξέ. α ́, πισσε
ξας, τὸν ἵππον κατάχριε, πρότερ

katachristing (κατάχριε) horses (ἵππον) with strong vinegar (ὄξους), after applying pitch

HIPPIATRICA Med. Hippiatrica Berolinensi

ἐμφυσήσας οἴνῳ καὶ ἐλαίῳ. καὶ μή, τῷ φαρμάκῳ κατάχριε. τοῖς καὶ τὴν ἐπιμέλειαν ποιοῦ.

Blow in wine and oil. And do not christ with the drug. Also, give them proper care.

Talking about (not) katachristing (κατάχριε) a horse with pharmakon (φαρμάκῳ)

When your horse was bit by a venomous creature:

There's a reason you want to Christ your horse.
If your horse is bitten by something that introduces toxins, something they call the iobolos, the poison shedder, scorpions, poisonous spiders...

echidna (ἐχίδνης) - viper

More echidna. If your horse receives a bite from some kind of snake, it's going to have an edema (oidema / οἴδημα). Swelling throughout its entire body, its eyes are going to get red and injected, its seat will fall out (probably a prolapse), and its penis falls forward and becomes cold like stone. (We know venoms cause priapism, erection)

They knew they had to give the same drugs to the horse as you use in the field for humans...
