From the Hippiatrica Berolinensis, a Byzantine (500-600AD) compilation of veterinary texts on horse medicine. Entries here are from pre 0-100CE.
This is from the medical manual on how to take care of your horses.
Blow in wine and oil. And do not christ with the drug. Also, give them proper care.
When your horse was bit by a venomous creature:

With softening drugs. Artemisia (ἀρτεμισίᾳ)... refers to the family of plants we today call mugwort, sagebrush, wormwood...
They were so advanced that they had the veterinary medicine going for horses. Down to what kind of antidote for particular stings, and symptoms, use certain compounds.
If they were this advanced with treatment of horses, where do you think they are with people?
More echidna. If your horse receives a bite from some kind of snake, it's going to have an edema (oidema / οἴδημα). Swelling throughout its entire body, its eyes are going to get red and injected, its seat will fall out (probably a prolapse), and its penis falls forward and becomes cold like stone. (We know venoms cause priapism, erection)
They knew they had to give the same drugs to the horse as you use in the field for humans...
